The Libertarian Party sounds retreat
The news is all over the Internet: the Libertarian Party has successfully gutted its national platform from over 60 planks to about a dozen. All in an effort to make the LP more palatable to the political mainstream. Among the items now missing from the LP platform are the non-aggression principle, essential to the very heart of libertarianism, and the plank against foreign intervention. Read L.K. Samuels' report at yesterday's LewRockwell.com.
Samuel Edward Konkin III warned radical libertarians about the evils of party politics 35 years ago. Murray Rothbard warned us about the dangers of "political pragmatism" 30 years ago.
You can't fight the State effectively through political means, friends. Not without compromising your principles. You just can't.
LPers, fer chrissakes...wake up and smell the tear gas!
Agora! Anarchy! Action!

First the two major parties abandoned all pretense of championing individual rights, and now the totalitarians are targeting even the small parties so we will be completely disenfranchised. Individualists are not abandoning the political process; the process is abandoning us.
Actually, Wally they did manage to keep the ZAP but the rest is definitely gone. As for what they replace it with...that's going to be up in the air. The LRC people have some rather odd planks and are in favour of bigger government. On at least one of their proposed planks they call for the federalisation of all police. Of course they'll tell ya that's just a legitimate function of government. Riiight.
The LP is in serious trouble and things could get terminal, real quick. Regardless of the votes, what these Reformista have managed to do is divide the LP and make it a more ineffectual tool. Can you say "Reform Party", kiddies?
There never has been a political solution, no matter what the current proponents say of whatever stipe.
The Fat Lady's warming up in the wings as I type.
The good news is, the Party is dying, as ugly as its death-throes may be. The bad news is, not enough otherwise intelligent libertarians are learning the proper lesson from this.
After this last cycle completes, and the LRC types have abandoned the rubble for greener pastures elsewhere, there will once again be a cry for re-constituting the LP as a "radical" vehicle.
So we can go through this all over again.
