Still too damn pretty to die?

IGN FilmForce and RottenTomatoes.com are reporting rumors that, despite Serenity’s disappointing box office figures this fall, there might still be life in Joss Whedon’s Firefly universe. Sources report that continuing strong sales for the Firefly DVD package have prompted Universal to begin planning a lower-budget Serenity sequel that will be produced with, and for broadcast on, the Sci Fi Channel, part of the NBC Universal family. Whedon’s people are so far denying such plans (typical).

Can it be true? Are Mal and his crew still just too damn pretty for God to let ’em die? I’d guess a lot rides on BIG sales for the Serenity DVD, due in stores on December 20, just five days before Christmas. So what’re ya Browncoats waitin’ fer? Pre-order the damn thing!
